Illustrating the difference in communication styles |
Culture influences the way people process information. In business, it is essential to understand how different cultures present and receive ideas and information. If you do not meet the expectations of your listeners, they will either switch off or resist what you are saying.
To illustrate this point, we identified ten important ingredients of business presentations, and asked business people from different countries to score their own nation for each. Placing their average scores on a ten-spoke wheel, we obtained a shape for each nation. The diagram here shows the shapes for China, Finland and the USA -- very different from one another!
